The Sierra Club is a grassroots volunteer-driven organization, with most of our key work accomplished by member-volunteers. Sierra Club of Canada active chapters in every region of Canada, with offices in Ottawa, Victoria, Sydney, Corner Brook, Halifax, Edmonton, Montreal and Toronto.

Our Mission is to protect and restore the health of the natural environment, including human communities in Ontario by empowering the membership and citizenry through education, advocacy, action and outdoor adventures.

We have an excellent reputation within our constituency and externally for refusing to compromise our ideals for convenience or for comfort, and for taking risks when necessary. We have an excellent, developed media presence, and we are equally comfortable in a Minister's office as at a kitchen table with a group of activist fishermen. We can do more with a little than most ever do with much.

The Sierra Club of Canada is a grassroots volunteer-driven organization. Our most important work is accomplished by member-volunteers. We provide a framework within which you, as a member, get to decide for yourself what campaigns you'd like to pursue and how you'd like to contribute. You get to do what interests you the most, and there's lots to choose from.

You can even create your own campaigns. If you see an ecological disaster looming on the horizon, you can do something about it. Our leaders provide guidance and teach by example but eventually you may find yourself doing some of your own campaign trailblazing. You're going to get to put your brains to good use.

This isn't empty consumer sloganism. We're not saying you'll get healthy by buying our running shoes or that you'll find community by drinking our coffee or that you'll get sexy by wearing our underwear (although with us you've probably got a better chance with some of those things than with the corporateers).
